Our Introduction to Sail program involves an exciting day of sailing lessons out on Sydney Harbour learning the basics of sail handling and steering. No prior sailing experience is required.
A great fun day, this course gives you a taste of sailing and the opportunity to learn some basic principals.
The course covers:

Our students board our yacht at Milsons Point at 8.45 am, returning at 3.45pm.
Students bring their own lunch, sunscreen and a hat is recommended. We will provide bottled water and wet weather jackets.
On completion of the day's lessons you will receive a Yachting Australia course completion certificate. Cost from the 1st October is $240 per person.

Build on your sailing skills and gain your certificate of competency so that you can enjoy cruising with others, or work towards sailing your own boat.
Our Introduction to Sail certificate is highly recommended but not compulsory for those with some previous sailing experience. This is a challenging course full of vital information for working as an integral part of a team onboard any yacht.

Our students board our yacht at Milsons Point at 8.45 am, returning at 3.45pm, for 2 of the 3 days, and students also have an opportunity to experience 3 hours of night Sydney sailing.
Commencing and finishing times for the third day are subject to the timing of sunset at that particular time of year. Courses are usually run over 2 weekends from our sailing school, however, they are also available (upon request) as 3 consecutive days including weekends and weekdays.
Students bring their own lunch, sunscreen and a hat is recommended. We will provide bottled water and wet weather jackets.
On completion you will receive a Yachting Australia course completion certificate. Cost is $660 per person.

Improve and build on your sailing skills and enjoy the excitement of sailing with a spinnaker on Sydney harbour, and of course racing with others. This course is full of vital information for working as a part of a race team and is a great way to gain confidence to race onboard any yacht.
Our Competent Crew certificate is a compulsory prerequisite for this course. You will receive comprehensive notes on sail trim and lessons on racing with a spinnaker. On completion students can apply to race with us for the Sydney CYCA BMW Winter Series, or get involved in one of the many twilight or weekend racing competitions on the Harbour.

Whether you are interested in day sailing with family and friends aboard your own yacht, or plan to crew or skipper offshore on longer passages, our Inshore Skipper course provides you with all the essentials to ensure an enjoyable and safe voyage.
Students must first complete their Competent Crew certificate and have a minimum of 300 nautical miles logged. The course is also very informative and often a prerequisite for anyone planning to hire a bareboat.

Our students board our yacht at Milsons Point at 8.45 am on the first and sixth days, concluding at 5.00pm on the following day. Two nights are spent aboard the yacht providing valuable night watch time and live aboard experience.
Courses are usually run over 2 weekends with 3 theory evenings each of 3 hours duration during the intervening week at the sailing school office. Alternatively, the course may be run over 5 consecutive days on request.
All meals and snacks are provided for the live aboard sessions (excluding breakfast on the first day and dinner on the second day) and wet weather jackets are provided.
On completion you will receive a Yachting Australia course completion certificate. Cost is $1100 per person.

Whether you are interested in day sailing with family and friends aboard your own yacht, or plan to crew or skipper on longer passages, our Inshore Skipper Theory course provides you with the theory fundamentals essential to complete your full Inshore Skipper course.
This course offers students the option of studying their Inshore Skipper Theory whilst still obtaining sea miles, and is an excellent stand alone course for those wanting to expand on the theory obtained during prior learning. Students must first complete their Competent Crew certificate.

This is a classroom based course of 20 hours to be held at our sailing school offices in Kirribilli. The course lessons can be run over 7 nights of 3 hours or 3 full days. On completion you will receive Yachting Australia signoff for the Shorebased component of the Inshore Skipper Certificate.
The Inshore Skipper Theory Course costs $400 and includes all tuition and materials. Students may then participate in our 4 day practical course for full completion and issue of their Inshore Skipper Certificate.
Our practical course is priced at $700 and covers the remainder of the syllabus required for full Inshore Skipper signoff.

As a result of a lengthy inquest into the 1998 Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, the New South Wales State Coroner made recommendations to the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia (CYCA), and the Australian Yachting Federation (AYF). The AYF Racing Rules of Sailing for 2001 - 2004 have adopted a number of those recommendations.
From 1 July 2002, 50% of all Category 1 race crew must have undertaken training and received a Certificate of Competence in the (now known as) Yachting Australia Safety and Sea Survival Course (SSSC), and the course is highly recommended for any crew, racing or pleasure, who sail offshore.

Courses run for 2 days over a full weekend and include a 'wet drill' at the Qantas pool, Mascot, to give students some real experience in manoeuvring with PFD's and using life rafts.
Full course notes are provided and the certificate is valid for 5 years. Cost is $440 per person.
